The Mystery Movie "The Bad Seed"

The Mystery Movie "The Bad Seed" Has Several Versions

The 1956 Version of  "The Bad Seed"
The first version of the mystery movie "The Bad Seed" is the 1956 version which stars child star Patricia "Patty" McCormack and she portrays the girl (she looks to be about 10 years old) by the name of Rhoda Penmark. Rhoda is the bad seed because she has the strong-willed fierce character of a narcissist. She is accused of several strange disappearances and deaths and her mother suspects that this "evil" within Rhoda is genetic. I can't post the movie here but there is a trailer I will post. The movie is available on YouTube to rent for $2.99. I have seen the 1956 version.

The 2018 Version of "The Bad Seed"
Then there is the newer 2018 version of "The Bad Seed." In this movie the bad seed is Emma and she looks to be around 10 years old also which kind of matches the original version. She has an innocent-angelic-looking face but soon it becomes apparent to her father, who is a widower,  that Emma is a brutal killer. He tries to kill her in her sleep with drugs but Emma outsmarts him and he is the only one who winds up dead in the end. Emma then is put on a list to become eligible for adoption at the end. I left out many details to make the movie more mysterious sounding so you can watch it and see for yourself what is going on here.

The 2022  Mystery "The Bad Seed Returns"
In this movie, Emma (Mckenna Grace)  is all grown up and is 15 and is attending high school, and is living with her aunt Angela who adopted her after her father's untimely and strange death to which Emma had contributed greatly. Emma causes horrible mischief against anyone who is trying to expose her murderous intent. Her uncle is one of the ones who can tell she is evil because he knows she tried to kill his infant son by making him drown in the pool but he was rescued in time. In the end, Emma, the bad seed, wins. She sets the house on fire killing her entire adoptive family and making it look like it was their fault. TV Tropes explains it this way, "The Bad Guy Wins: Emma sets the house on fire, killing Angela, Robert, and Kat, and also successfully frames Kat for it. Bad News in a Good Way: Emma's test to find out if she's a psychopath ends with a message saying "Congratulations: You're a psychopath.", as if that's a good thing."

My Evaluation of the Movie Versions "The Bad Seed"
The Bad Seed mystery movie versions all explain that there are good and bad seeds living amongst humanity. The Bible says that good and bad seeds grow together. Once you discover a "bad seed" person it is best not to let them know that you know their secret because it can and will be most likely, deadly. Another good example would be the fairytale "Snow White." Snow White has an evil stepmother and Snow White escapes but then she eats the poisoned apple and later miraculously is revived by Prince Charming. This fairytale explains that we can have narcissists in our own family and they can hurt us but if we are good people we will overcome this evil.

I am giving the original version of "The Bad Seed" a 5 ***** out of 5 stars (the highest value that can be given)  for truth and suspense.

I am giving the 2018 version of "The Bad Seed" 5 ***** out of 5 stars because it shows it is difficult to outsmart a narcissist.

I am giving the 2022 mystery movie "The Bad Seed Returns" 5 ***** out of 5 stars because it shows that narcissists get worse as they age.
